Responsibilities
The Applications Product Manager is responsible for product line planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with strategic marketing, engineering, sales, professional services, and marketing communications to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction objectives are met. The life science product manager will be responsible for both vertically focused software applications and productized professional services offerings.
Principal Responsibilities Include:
- Define the product line strategy and roadmap
- Identify, prioritize, and articulate market and customer requirements based on both primary and secondary market research
- Translate critical customer and market requirements into product concepts
- Develop and communicate the business plan in support of new major product releases
- Develop the functional specification with prioritized features and corresponding justification
- Develop the positioning and messaging for the product including value proposition
- Assess competitive offerings
- Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals
- Develop sales tools and marketing collateral
- Design and coordinate launch activities
- Deliver sales training
- Promote internal communications and drive industry training for the sales organization
- Support general sales initiatives including industry and customer presentations
Travel:
- Moderate travel for visits to customer sites and industry events will be required
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- 6+ years of experience in product management, preferably with a solutions oriented product
- Software product management experience required
- Preferable to have product management experience in identifying, developing, and executing the product management role for newly developed applications
- Must have exemplary communication skills including strong writing and presentation skills
- Must have an entrepreneurial mindset
- Knowledge of perishable supply chain management a plus
- Must have detailed knowledge of MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel
Education:
- BS degree required - preferably in business with a concentration in marketing
- MBA required
