Principal
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for coordinating and executing all aspects of projects and programs designed to help companies involved in the manufacture or distribution of temperature sensitive food products continuously improve their cold chain management and product handling from manufacture or harvest through to consumption. This involves project management, field work, data analysis, process improvement activities, writing technical reports, providing technical expertise and managing Field Technicians and Assistant Project Managers. This position also involves working with a cross functional team including data analysts, project managers, industrial engineers, food scientists and salespeople.
The principal responsibilities of a Program Manager include the following
items listed below:
Internal and External Relationships
- Daily contact with Sensitech’s Professional Services Department team members, in person and by phone and email
- Daily contact with customers. This typically involves interaction with QA or operations personnel in food companies
Challenges
- Interacting with wide a range of customers and team members with varied backgrounds and perspectives
- Managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines
Travel
- Up to 35% travel is required. This typically involves 1-4 day trips within Europe working in food manufacturing or distribution facilities
Principle Accountabilities
- Required to assess cold chain management/refrigeration issues across a wide range of food products from production through point of sale
- Responsible for planning and executing projects, and for presenting the results. Requires excellent project management skills as well as excellent oral and written communications skills
- Train and manage Field Technicians. Requires strong people management skills
Essential
Knowledge & Skills
- BS or MS in Postharvest Horticulture, Food Science, Food Engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years work experience involving food quality assurance, food R&D or related field
- Experience working directly with customers required
- Experience managing people
