Re: TTM and USB Serial Adapter Support

Affected Systems
Win95, Win98, Win2000 and ME operating systems

Solution
If the user must use the USB serial port to connect the interface plus unit, the following steps need to be performed:

  1. Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel
  2. In the Control Panel window, double click on System
  3. Now click the Device Manager tab to verify that the USB port exists
  4. If it does, go to step 9. If not, please continue on with the next step.
  5. Load the USB support driver (4.03.1212) from the floppy
  6. Remove the floppy and reboot the PC
  7. Insert floppy again when loading Win 95, 98, 2000 or ME, depending on your operating system
  8. Remove USB floppy and insert CD (or floppy disk with adapter driver)
  9. Attach USB device (system will now look for driver ± Win2000 or ME)
  10. Press OK
  11. New hardware will be found and it will assign a COM port to the USB

When the user opens the TempTale Manager program, he/she must go to the Administration Hardware Setup. In the Reader Comm Port Settings, click on the Serial Port drop-down box and choose the COM port from step #13.

Sensitech’s Software Engineering Department has successfully tested this procedure with Belkin USB serial Adapter (F5U103) and installation CD only.

Please note: The USB serial port Adapter will not work with Win NT.
