Weather Alert – Tropical Storm Isaias
Date: July 30, 2020
Location: United States Southeast Coast
Description: Tropical Storm Isaias is currently dropping heavy rain and wind gusts of up to 50 mph on Puerto Rico, which has caused flash flooding in areas and river flooding in eastern Puerto Rico. Tropical storm warnings and watches have been issued for Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Bahamas. The forecast beyond the Caribbean is highly uncertain, but the first impacts in Florida could be felt as early as Saturday, with a potential path up the U.S. East Coast. .
Recommendation: The Sensitech® Supply Chain Intelligence Center (SCIC) recommends shippers continue to monitor developments throughout the week and weekend and confirm if destination facilities in the area will be impacted and have alternate plans for secure staging locations outside of the storm’s path. The SCIC continues to strongly recommend that shippers and manufacturers utilize covert GPS tracking as part of a layered security program to mitigate the risk of theft. In the event cargo is stolen, the ability to provide real-time, accurate location coordinates to law enforcement is an essential component of a successful recovery.
